Calumet is located in the Keweenaw Peninsula, in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. With an average snowfall of 240 inches, the area boasts a long and consistent ski season.

The main routes to the area are US-41 from the east, M-26 from the west, and US-141 and US-45 from the south.

The area has a number of motels and bed and breakfasts

All of the Bear Chase venues are located near each other. The Swedetown trails are less than a mile south of Calumet.
